Saudi bourse down by nearly 26% during October 2008

down trendAt the end of October 2008 TADAWUL All Share Index (TASI) closed at a level of 5,537.82 points, losing 1,920.68 points (25.75%) over the close of the previous month. On an YTD basis TASI lost 5,500.84 points (49.83%).

 

Highest close level for the index during the month was 6,863.15 as on 15/10/2008. Total equity market capitalization at the end of October 2008 reached SR 1.09 trillion (US$ 290.09 billion), decreasing by 25.05% over the previous month. The total value of shares traded for the month of October 2008 reached SR 120.21 billion (US$ 32.06 billion), increasing by 49.88% over the previous month.

 

The total number of shares traded reached 5.03 billion shares for the month of October 2008 compared to 2.63 billion shares traded during the previous month, increasing by 91.74%. The total number of transactions executed during October 2008 reached 3.06 million compared to 2.63 million trades for the month of September 2008, increasing by 16.35%.
