Posted: 24-12-2008 , 08:34 GMT

Société Générale de Banque-JordanieSociété Générale de Banque-Jordanie partners with Hikmat Road Safety for road safety improvements on the beginning of Mecca Street, which is considered to be one of the most congested and potentially dangerous streets in Amman.

The improvements on the street will include the construction and installation of a pedestrian bridge towards the beginning of the street, as well as railings along the median to encourage pedestrians to use the bridge. Work is expected to start next at the end of December and is expected to conclude in mid January. The design, implementation and infrastructure of the pedestrian bridge and railings are prepared by the Greater Amman Municipality, who played an essential role in the whole process.

“We at SGBJ are strong believers and supporters of the road safety issue, which is facing the Jordanian society at large. We believe that this is a critical matter and no effort should be spared towards solving it, said Mr Ali Kooli, SGBJ’s General Manager.

Mr. Kooli added:  “our support through Hikmat Road Safety is an approach to assist the decrease in number of the killed and seriously injured by road accidents and we hope to make a difference in our chosen street”.

“We’re looking forward to start our work with the support of SGBJ on Mecca Street. The pedestrian bridge that is to be placed towards the beginning of the street will be of great benefit to the people who live and work in the area as it is a safer option for pedestrian to move from one area of the street to another, without fearing or maneuvering high traffic.” Said Mr Maher Kaddoura, Founder of Hikmat Road Safety.  We strongly believe that this is yet another constructive step towards reducing the number of potential accidents and increase road safety in Jordan.

Société Générale de Banque-Jordanie continously works on contibuting to the local society, and is keen on placing its efforts towards solving the road safety issue in Jordan alongside Hikmat Road Safety.
